Tea Time with Evan

Our cutie-pie friend Evan, spent the night with us and we decided that all the girlies should enjoy tea time at KK's Craft Mall the following Saturday. Sydni and Evan dressed up for the occasion, while Makenzi opted to dress in her favorite t-shirt and cotton shorts. (She's hit or miss when it comes to dressing up, and apparently she wasn't feeling the whole princess vibe that day!) Sydni and Evan had cute little sandwiches and cranberry tea from a real tea pot. They had so much fun having tea like REAL princesses! Ha!
Sydni and our friend, Evan, are dressed up for tea-time!

Mak just wanted to wear her "Tinka-bell" shirt. She's not such a fru-fru tea guest.
Notice the pinkies....
Silly Evan! I should have recorded the "serious" conversations she and Sydni had. One went something like this:
Evan: When you get big and married your grandmas die.
Sydni: No they don't. They get old.
Evan. Mine aren't old yet.
Sydni: My Meme is REALLY old, but she's not dead.
At this point, I stopped them because I didn't think five year olds should be so dang morbid! LOL!
Mak enjoys her lemon cup cake!

Cook Out!

We love having friends over to cook out and play! We had a few buddies over last weekend and enjoyed the food and company. The girls LOVE to host, and we are planning another in July!

The kiddos played and played and played!
Dean and Hannah, our neighbors avoid my camera! Shayne also turns her back on me...turkeys!

Kelley and Dana chit chat and avoid the heat outdoors!
McKenna gives her daddy Aron (and my new boss, Ha!) a hug. How sweet!
Zach Garza is fending off the ladies. With those eyes, he's going to have to get used to that!

Little man was busy!

Happy Father's Day, Donnie

Okay, so I'm a little late putting this post up, but we had a wonderful Father's Day with Donnie. The girls picked out his gift (the redneck golf game for the back yard) and decided he needed to eat at On the Border to celebrate. They love that restaurant and we can't complain about that choice, either. After lunch, we grabbed an ice cream at Baskin Robbins and played on the waterslide the rest of the day.

Goofing around at On the Border.
Silly Syd-o!
Donnie and Sydni
The girls picked out a fun game for the back yard! We love playing this game at tailgate parties, so I knew he would like it!

The girls decorated Donnie's wrapping paper for his gift. I found this roll of blank gift wrap at Walmart and let them go to town with their markers....of course, I had to participate a little bit, too!

Makenzi's Swan Dive

Oh, My!

Kienan and Karson Visit Us in Love-ock (Lubbock)

Playing with water balloons.
Being goofy!
Watch the video in the previous post to see what vivid imaginations this group can have!
Kienan spraying Sydni!
I'm sure you can figure out what he's pretending to do! Boys!
They only took a break to warm up once! They played for two and half hours!
Tow-headed brothers!
The Wayniac!
They played so well together!
The lifeguard getting on to Makenzi for not waiting to go down the slide until the kid before her was off.
Love her new suit? She picked it out herself at Justice for Girls.
Makenzi was full-steam ahead the entire time. She played and played and played!
Soooo excited to be there!
On the move!
Karson was a blur!
The Ketchum boys came to stay a few days with us in Lubbock (or Love-ock, as the boys call it). I tried to take them to every park I could think of, and we also went swimming at Body Works. Did you know it is only five bucks a kid to swim in their awesome water park, even if you're not a member?! We will definitely be doing that more this summer! The girls and the boys always have fun when they get together, and this visit was a blast for everyone!

Quick Trip to WD

To kick off our summer break, we decided on a whim to go to White Deer for the day! We enjoyed visiting Granny and the Ketchums, and also made a stop visit with Mamaw! Here's a few pics from our short trip. We also took Kienan and Karson back to Lubbock with us to stay a few days!
Sydni and Mamaw
I took a picture of a picture that Mamaw had in her house of my sisters and I. Check out my bangs...I can't be too harsh on Kenzi because I trimmed myself, too!
Eating lunch in the park.
Group picture! No one will ever look at the camera at the same time!

29...What a Wierd Age!

Me on my 1st Birthday. That shirt is killer, isn't it? So is my hair cut. AWESOME!! Does that scream 1981?
Did I mention that I have the best in-laws ever? Really, I do! (I also have NO make up on in these pics. We did this first thing in the morning and I didn't take into account that I might scare some of you with my freckle mustache. Sorry. Gustav will put me to shame further down in the pics. You'll see.)
Bob and Deb knew that Donnie would be in Orlando, FL training on my birthday, so they brought over a cake, balloons and flowers! They are the sweetest and bestest father and mother-in-law a gal could want! I love the both of you VERY, VERY much!!!

Sydni wanted to pose with the cake while making this dorky face.

Makenzi has chocolate milk mustache. I like to call her Gustav, my birthday waiter.

Sydni made me pose with my cake. She cracks me up how much she is like her Daddy when it comes to birthdays! They are big deal to both of them! (Donnie is the one who requested his parents do this for me, but all three are equally sweet! Bob, Deb, Donnie: thank you for making my birthday special. I love you!)

Ramblings of an Almost-Thirty-Year-Old:

My last year in my twenties, and I'm a little scared. Not because I don't want to be older (it certainly beats the alternative), but because SO MUCH has happened in nine short years. What will I have to write about when I'm 39???? YIKES! I've decided I'm going to do a lot this year just so I can say I did all of this stuff before I was thirty. Here are a few things I'm going to MAKE myself do before June 6th, 2010.

1. Finish my novel. I'm on page 48, surely I can do better than that, right? I think about it CONSTANTLY. I just need to get it on paper, or computer. Even if it sucks and publishers laugh in my face, or send it back without even looking at it, I will be able to look back when I'm 80 and say that I at least tried to fufill one of my big dreams.

2. Run a half marathon. Buffalo Springs Lake hosts a 5K in November, and I'm gonna sign up and start training, well, yesterday. (Thanks for the tips, Mr. Fenton! Carmen, you have a go-getter of a husband!)

3. Finish Makenzi's baby book. Please don't tell her I never did. I was kind of busy her first year of life, but I kept everything I could that was memorable in a big, ugly cardboard box.

4. Take better care of my body and overall health. (Old people have to do this, I'm told.) I would say I'm going to go organic, but we don't make enough money for me to do that completely! Ha!

5. Cherish every single day I have with my family. The girls are growing like little weeds, and it's freakin' me out how soon their childhood will be passing me by! OMG!

Flower Girls in Action!

Ashlee Carroll and Matt Laycock were married at Spirit Ranch in Lubbock, Texas on June 6th, 2009, and that day will be a great memory for Sydni and Makenzi for the rest of their lives. I remember how special it was to be a flower girl at a wedding, and feel like you are a part of something BIG! The girls woke up that day buzzing about "Ash-a-lee's Wedding" and wanted to start putting make up on at 9am!
We did do make up and hair later on that day, but what matters most is that BOTH flowergirls performed at the ceremony! Sydni strolled confidently with the handsome ring bearer, while Makenzi cowed and walked with her head down a few steps behind the duo. I also think she shot a few dirty looks at people who chuckled at her stance, but overall I was SHOCKED she actually did it!
I had to delicately "retrieve" her from the front, but her sister Sydni was a total pro at the flower girl stuff. She stood quietly the entire ceremony with the other bridesmaids in shoes that were "killing me", she said after the service was over. I was so proud of both my adorable girlies! Check out a few of the professional pictures the girls were in (I LOVE Domonique Harmon's work and know that we will definitely be using her studio in the future), and then a few of my pics that look very weak in comparison to Dominique's awesome shots! Congratualtions Matt & Ash, and thank you for letting our girls be a part of your special day!

Posing with the "big girls".

Sydni could be a professional flower girl.

Even flower girls need gloss! My friend Brooke (and bridesmaid at the wedding) helps attend to our "high maintanence" flower girl! Brooke also helped me sew up Makenzi's dress moments before the ceremony began. The little turd ripped out three of her gatherings while playing!
What a perfect pucker!

Doing what they do best - running around like wild women. Sweaty flower girls are an example of irony or a conundrum right?

Loving the dresses!

Enunciating her "Cheese"
Blowing Matt a kiss! What a lucky guy, right?

Posing by one of the peacocks that roam the grounds. They make loud noises like a whining cat. Pretty, but wierd, no?

Click on the pic for a bigger view of the backs of these adorable gowns.

Taking her job as flower girl VERY seriously. We practiced the tossing technique and everything, every where we went, too!
The shoes were her favorite part of the outfit at first, but at the end of the ceremony they were "killing" her! LOL!
Aiden, the ring bearer, and the girls. They thought he was pretty cute!

Doesn't Ashlee make a beautiful bride? The girls acted like she was a rock star!
Beautiful scenery for a wedding all around them!
